Finally….a win! Baker’s Dozen 13 hr

After about a year and half of trying I finally got to that elusive top step by taking the win at the SORBA sponsored Baker’s Dozen 13 Hour on April 16th. I hope this is the begining of a trend as 24 hour race season begins next month….no more second places!

I took the lead from the first lap and held it to the end. Fellow solo racer Eric Rittenour kept the pressure on throughout the race, but in the end missed the cut off for the last lap by 1 minute.

Dispite a crash in the third lap that rung my bell pretty good I carried. I had my doubts about finishing this one as the head ache set in, but after a few Advil’s I was rolling again. After that I just set a steady pace and did my thing. I ended up with 19 laps and 152 miles.

A million thanks the members of the NWGA SORBA for there support in the pits. I was mostly self supported at this one, but they kept my water bottles full. Namrita was also a huge help and bigger inspiration…..she took second in the women’s solo field. You can read her version here: http://namrita.blogspot.com
