The Final Touches
I’ve been training my butt off…literally. I’m down to a steady 145 lbs right now from all the hours I’ve been putting in. With the NORBA 24 Hour Nationals at 9-mile in WI only 16 days out I’m almost done with the training and ready to start the taper. I’ve got a few more hard efforts to put in this week including about 10 hours ride time over the weekend. Next week I’ll be resting up for the 6 hour option at the 12 Hours of Dauset race down in Jackson, GA. That will be a primer for the big show up in Wisconsin. I’m pretty excited because this month has been going fantastic as far training goes. I feel healthy, strong and fast. I’m recovering quickly from the hard efforts and long rides, my nutrition on & off the bike has been sound, and the new pedal stroke is all but second nature at this point.
Equipment wise I still have some work to do. We just got the last of the equipment needed to do the Wobble-Naught fits in yesterday, so I can get my spare bike fit (and start fitting other riders too!). The spare King Kikapu has been in pieces in the garage since the 24 hours of Conyers, so that’s going to need some work. I have brand new drive train to set up and then add the Scottoiler Active Fluid System to my primary ride, The King. The Scottoiler is an on board chain lubing system I have been testing out and now feel comfortable enough to race with. I’ll post back with some more info from this product test later. Tifosi is sending me some Fototec glasses (the tint changes with exposure to UV rays) to try out and some Quam 1.5s to replace a missing pair. One of my Light & Motion ARC bulbs finally burnt out after 4 years of abuse, so I’m waiting on their return. Finally I still need to get some travel arrangements worked out, but I’m hoping hear back from one of my sponsors about a little help on that front. I’ve got my fingers crossed, because this could make the trip a whole lot less stressful…which hopefully increases the likelihood of a solid result.
In other sponsor news, Light & Motion will be featuring yours truly in their 2007 product catalog. Aside from the millions of dollars I will receive (the check is in the mail), it should be some great exposure for me and my sponsors. I’m told they usually print and distribute 50,000 of these things, but because of my popularity they will be upping that to at least a couple million….
