OR Updates

As promised here are some of the cool items I found at the Outdoor Retailers Trade Show. They do not allow photography unless you have the almighty media badge (those guys get into all the parties), so you’ll have to make do with the images I can find on the net.

The coolest product was Tecnu Extreme™ Medicated Poison Ivy Scrub…mostly because I had a nice poison ivy rash on my arm from a trip to FL. My rash had been present for a couple of days already and the pink Calamine lotion was not the fashion statement I was after at the trade show, but I had to use it any way because it was all I had….and was aware of at the time. The TecNu guys hooked me up with this scrub:
Tecnu Extreme™ Medicated Poison Ivy Scrub and the Calagel® Medicated Anti-itch Gel: Calagel® Medicated Anti-itch Gel: . I scrubbed twice a day and applied the gel immediately after. Each day the rash was reduced and by the third day it was barely noticeable. Those two products will be included in my riding gear from now on.

Tifosi Optics was tucked way back in the corner, but I’m sure they will be in the lime light soon enough. I contacted them after finding a pair of their glasses on my Hell Ride trip last year. They make some really nice looking glasses that function well, but are affordable. They are also based right here in GA and I like to work with my neighbors. Here is are the Fototec glasses I have been wear as of late: Tifosi Fototecs The Fototec glasses have what Tifosi calls Variable Tint Technology which means the tint changes depending on the amount of light they are exposed to. This is very cool for riding and driving, because they don’t get too dark when the sun goes behind a cloud or you pass under the shade of a tree.

The last one for today will be the Oil & Water Project. I love the idea of this effort. Two Kayakers in a Bio-Diesel converted Toyota firetruck are traveling from Alaska to Chile to raise awareness about bio-diesel and of course hit some sweet rivers along the way. Oil & Water Project. Scott Gibson of Wingnut fame set them up with a solar panel to work with, but I don’t have the details about how that worked out. It would have been good to work with these guys early on.

That’s it for today…tomorrow: Custom Soles, the GelBot, Bigfoot and Micro-Lights.
