Freezing My Pinhoti Off
Yesterday Namrita & I headed to Ellijay, GA to catch up with some friends (old and new) for a ride in the mountains on the Pinhoti Trail. While it looked like spring, it felt like winter. The high was forecasted at 46, but I don’t think we ever felt that. Nam was having some bike issues from the get go and ended up cutting it a little short. I’ll be replacing some more parts on Blueberry Pie ASAP and we even discussed building up a Kona Kula 29er for her to race on and keep in working order. I took it easy today and only pushed myself when it felt good. This past recovery week was not as restful last I would have liked, but one cannot race without money. The post ride chocolate and gathering at a nearby Mexican restaurant was great (and warm) ending to good day for me.

An added bonus was being able to watch the US Pro Open race on NBC while we ate. The start for the men looked a little nasty:

No news yet from 55nine client, Tim Henry, who rides for Jittery Joes. The attrition rate was pretty high at this one because of the weather…141 started, 54 finished. I just hope he stayed upright.
The women’s race ended just fine though with 55nine client, Tina Pic, taking the sprint with an amazingly strong lead out by her teammates Andrea Dvorak and Iona Wynter. What is even more impressive is that the Colavita Team consisted of only these 3 girls! Rock on ladies. I do have to say it’s a little annoying how little coverage the women’s races receive. Cyclingnews had the most balanced coverage, but Velonews seems to only add the women’s results as an after thought.
