Train Wreck

Nam, the famous Mike Livingston and I rode the Covington Century today. I hadn’t been on a road bike in at least a month maybe 6 weeks. I left OK on it and quite recovered from last weekend, but this was not the long, easy road ride I was looking for. We missed the lead group because we were late and just cruised on our own at about 20 mph. The first 50 miles were great, then the day began to heat up to a ridiculous high of 125* on the road. The actual air temps were in the 90s, but the road offered no shade and radiated heat. We finished, but just barely. Luckily the SAGs were we stocked with water, food and ice….lots of ice. I sticking chunks in my the legs of my shorts to keep cool. It would last about 10-15 glorious minutes. Nam was struggling a bit, but Mike and I made sure she finished. I was so wrecked that I napped all the way back into ATL. I may need a few more days to recover from this one and when I do my rides will either be early or late.

How I feel today.
