Fooled
What a blast that was. Don’t get me wrong, it was a ton of work and major cause of stress, but still it was a good time. We had over 100 racers show up, about 20 volunteers and who knows how many spectators. My dad and my brother came into town to help and help they did. Namrita worked her arse off all weekend….and the weeks leading up to this event. She even dodged a bear while marking the course on Thursday. The sponsors were incredibly generous, but I have to thank Northstar Bicycles and Dahlonega Wheelworks for their wrenching efforts at the SAGs. Wendy from R Ranch was just awesome. She made sure everyone was well feed all afternoon. She also told me about some singletrack out there at R Ranch that we’ll be checking out soon. Joe Polk from MTBcast.com made an appearance and even manned a course marshal station for bit. Thanks Joe. Check out MTBcast.com episode 86 for a pre-race interview with yours truly and I’m pretty sure we’ll have some post race coverage as well. Trev, Anne, Neal, Laurie, John from Winder, Janice from TN, Jesse, Kristen, Joe that was with Shannon, Tomato, Cricket, Glenn, Bruce and any other volunteer or racer turned volunteer thank you so much for your time. I’ve only heard positive things about everyone’s efforts and I appreciate that.
I’m still unpacking from the weekend, Nam is still working on results and of course there is much thought about how to improve next year’s event. Truthfully I’m ready for a long slow ride and a couple of long nights of sleep to get myself back on track.
