Now is the time to fit your bike.

Of course this a blatant sponsor plug for 55nine Performance…..

55nine Performance

But this really is the time of year to be thinking about making these changes. You’ll be able to begin you base training in your new position and have months to perfect the technique before a race or century or some other personal challenge. Starting this process now means you’ll have the benefit of adapting through all of your phases of training with the same muscle recruitment, which will yield better results than waiting until right before the your season begins. I’ll be getting my new Vassagos all dialed in as soon as they arrive to maximize the benefits.

Eddie O's new ride.

The new batch of Bandersnatches should be delivered to Vassago in a few weeks. I’ve decided on the 16″ for now. The top tube will be a little short for me, but I’ve been dealing with that since the dawn of….well since I started riding. I’m very skilled at handling a 130 or 140mm stem. The head tube and stack height is the area of concern for me and going to the 18″ with a longer top tube would also mean a taller head tube, so for now I’ll stick to the smaller frame. I really liked the way the 16″ handled anyway, but for the sake of learning all I can I’ll try the 18″ at some point. I’m looking at ways to minimize the stack height with steep negative rise stems, low profile head sets and even looking into modifying the head tube and fork. The latter are not recommended for the faint of heart. I’m also going to try out a rigid fork, but I’m not quite sold on that idea for racing….yet.

How cool is it that the new Bandersnatch color matches the 55nine colors……coincidence or were they just trying to allure me in?
