3 Hours On The Rollers…By Accident
I go down stairs to my in-laws basement set up the rollers, turn on the movie Zodiac and climb aboard the bike. It took me a ten minutes or so to get reaquainted with the riding the rollers…it’s been a few months. After a few bobbles, I’m spinning away. The movie is good and I am enthralled, barely noticing the low effort on the bike. I occasionally stop to get some circulation to parts of the body were blood flow is restricted when seated for too long. My plan was to ride until the movie was over. I never saw the end. After about 2 and half hours Namrita yells down “you gonna be down there all night?” I didn’t even realize how long I had already been down there. I figured the movie was close to being over any way so I kept riding. At 3 hours and yet another false climax in the film I called it night.

Usually my mind and other parts are numb after an hour and half. Any more and I have to bail, but since I had no preconceived idea about how long I’d go for it wasn’t bad at all….actually the opposite, I enjoyed it. I need to learn to harness that ability again. I used to be able to ride indoors for hours on end. 5 hours was my record, but I’ve done more 3 hour sessions that I care to remember. I’ve even done 10-11 hour within a week. I was pretty obsessive about not missing any hours back then, maybe I can do that again.
