Gunnison Growler – Short

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

What a great weekend with the US Topeak-Ergoon team in Gunnison for the Original Growler. The short story is that I finished in 6 hours and 45 minutes while breathing through a straw. The trails were awesome, never a dull moment. Here are some pics and I’ll write up the longer version later:

Arrived in Gunni

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Friday at 10:00 AM sharp, the Ergon mobile rolled up to our accomodations in Denver to take us west to Gumnison. \nJeff, Sonya, Yuki, Namrita, & I all piled in the FJ for 4 hours of chit chat & bonding. There was many jokes cracked and stories told. We even learned how to say “I [...]

Riding Up High

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Looks like the upload from the iphone to wordpress is not working so well. We’ll have a ton of photos when get back home, but we didn’t bring a laptop with us. Yesterday we rode with this guy west of Boulder in Nederland. The trail was some where around 8400-8600 ft, so it was comparable [...]

DGS – Ugh

Monday, May 11th, 2009

By now the word has spread though the interwebs about how bad the conditions were at the DSG. Like two years ago when we attended this race everything was run incredible well. The only issue this year was that mother nature did not cooperate. Since I’m avoiding 12 hour solo races in the year part [...]

And again.

The momentum is there, so why fight it. I’m racing again at the DSG 12 Hour this weekend with Namrita & Cara Applegate. We’ll be in the 4 person coed category, so I’m hoping to get some of the extra laps since I love this course. We’ll see how frisky the ladies are…. Who else [...]

Back to the Basics

Monday, May 4th, 2009

This weekend’s race made it very evident that I need to work on some of the basic skills to be a successful mountain bike racer. If we were basketball players no one would be shocked to hear me talk about dribbling drills or free throw practice. No one would would think twice about a golfer, [...]

Dirty Spokes 6 Hour

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Here’s a video of the start. I rolled wide around that first turn to avoid any potential pile ups and latched on to the lead group of 10 or so. We made the second pass then headed for the single track. It was already single file before we even got there. I was somewhere in [...]
