Arrived in Gunni
Friday at 10:00 AM sharp, the Ergon mobile rolled up to our accomodations in Denver to take us west to Gumnison. \nJeff, Sonya, Yuki, Namrita, & I all piled in the FJ for 4 hours of chit chat & bonding. There was many jokes cracked and stories told. We even learned how to say “I have to pee” in Japanese, though I will not attempt to spell it.\n\nThere is not much to Gunnison. Two intersecting roads, an airport (to access the Crested Butte ski area) & a brewery (of course). The best feature I have seen so far is the trails.\n\nI rode Hartman Rocks once back in 2000. It was technical and way over my head then. It’s still technical and just a little over my head now. Most of the race will be sandy roads and trails, but with all the rain falling here it should roll fast on Sunday. We’ll riding some more today to get used to the steep, rocky descents.\n\nWe’ve also got a photo shot to knock out since we finally scored some team clothing. That should be fun. I also hear we are having dinner at the Wiens’ place. Cool.
