Better late then never right? Photo by Andrew Kornylak Doing well at 24 Hours of Adrenaline was once again one the main goals of my season and once again I came close. Last year I could say it was the best race of my season, actually it was my best 24 hour effort ever. This [...]

Churn & Burn 24 Hour

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

Genesis Adventures’ Churn & Burn 24 Hour Ashford, CT Sept 10th & 11th 2005 What better way to follow up a 100 mile ride and end a vacation than a 24 hour race? The Churn & Burn 24 Hour was held on a short, fast and rocky 5.5 mile course at Brialee Campground in Ashford, [...]

Camping at Mauch Chunk & Hangin’ in CT

Friday, September 9th, 2005

Camping at Mauch Chunk & Hangin’ in CT Sept 5th – 9th Namrita and I wrapped up the Shenandoah 100 ride and headed north to Jim Thorpe, PA. The plan was to find a quiet camping spot with a lake near by and relax for a few days. After a few stops in the town [...]

Shenandoah Mountain 100

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

Shenandoah Mountain 100 Stokesville, VA 9/4/2005 This was my first attempt at the increasingly popular 100 mile off-road races and now I know why they are getting so popular. The course was a combination of technical, almost scary in places, single track, dirt forest roads and very little pavement. What I really enjoyed was the [...]

Santa Cruz Hellride 2

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Hellride 2 8/13/2005 Downieville, CA Mr. Weir had no more patience for pictures and chitchat, it was time to ride. We shoved off from the Yuba Expeditions bike shop in downtown Downieville for the start of a ride that was to be a test of my stamina, skills and grit. The goal was to merely [...]

Cowbell Classic 12-Hour Race
Charlotte, NC
June 25th, 2005

Everything was going well until about 10 hours in, but I’ll get to that in a moment. I had a minor mechanical in the first few hours, but luckily I had the back up bike, the Kula Primo, on hand. I mentioned in my last report that the KP was a bit stiff and may not be made for endurance racing. Well, I lied. Just a few minutes into the first lap with it and I knew I had the right tool for the job….

Southern Lights 24-7 2005

Southern Lights 24-7
June 11th and 12th
Farmington, GA

It’s been a few days and it hasn’t really sank in. This is a goal I have been after for a few years and I’m not entirely sure what it means to finally achieve it. I do know what it doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean I’m done. There is much more to go after, but for now I want this win to really sink in….

Finally….a win! Baker’s Dozen 13 hr

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

After about a year and half of trying I finally got to that elusive top step by taking the win at the SORBA sponsored Baker’s Dozen 13 Hour on April 16th. I hope this is the begining of a trend as 24 hour race season begins next month….no more second places!

Close, but No Cigar on the Road

Monday, March 21st, 2005

I did my first USCF sactioned road race this weekend. Wow, it’s like crack and I’m addicted. I got into the Cat 4/5 race which was about 50 miles. For the first 3/4ths I sat in the middle and avoided the knuckle heads who seemed intent on crashing.

12 Hours of Razorback

Friday, February 25th, 2005

Well the season is finally underway. I took three weeks off from training after the Conyers 24 hour back in Oct. I still rode some, but only when I felt like it and it was completely unstructured. There was actually 5 days in a row that I was off the bike completely. That’s a rarity [...]
